BOW VALLEY – Rocky Mountain Outlook – The Bid Corporation for a potential 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games to be hosted in Calgary and Canmore will return to the Bow Valley to present its plans next week.
Calgary 2026 will be in both communities on Tuesday (Oct. 2) to host public information sessions regarding the draft hosting concept released earlier this month.
The sessions are open to anyone interested in learning more about the Olympic and Paralympic bids, or the process to put together the draft hosting plan.
The estimated cost of operating both events was $2.4 billion and the cost of infrastructure $3 billion, as detailed in the hosting plan.
The capital plan includes $610 million for housing, which includes $116 million for an Olympic athlete’s village in Canmore.
It is also proposed that all medal ceremonies, other than team competitions, for the Paralympic Games would be held in Canmore in a new celebration plaza in the community.
In Banff, the public information session is being held at the Banff Centre from 6-7:30p.m. and the Canmore session is 2:30-4 p.m. at the Canmore Nordic Centre.
